2010 has been off to a rocky start for us -- nothing to major, just enough to throw us off a little. For example, last weekend -- Sophie had a stomach bug on Saturday. She vomited 8 times in 6 hours and then it was over. I felt so bad for her; she couldn't keep anything down and kept telling me her tummy hurt. And all I could do was hold her and rub her back and try to soothe her. It really sucks to have a sick child, and I feel very lucky that Sophie has been incredibly healthy for the last two years.
Then on Sunday, Allen noticed that the carpet in the basement was wet and there was a leak dripping down one of the furnace ducts in the basement ceiling. A few hours later we noticed that the drywall in our living room was also wet and getting a little mushy in spots. So, instead of waiting until Monday, we called a plumber who came in on Sunday night and found a corroded water pipe in our living room wall that had probably been leaking for several days. He replaced the pipe, leaving rather large holes in the drywall and living room ceiling.
On Monday the water damage mitigation crew came over and assessed the damage and installed industrial dryers and dehumidifiers in our living room and basement. They were finally done today -- it's wonderful to have a quiet house again with no hum of the dryers. Now we just need to find a contractor to come in and repair the drywall in the living room and the doorway frame and joists in the basement, and make sure that the carpet is salvageable, and paint the entire living room again.... ugh. I think most of all, I'm just happy that this happened before the baby arrived. Now the goal is to get everything done with plenty of time to settle back in and relax before baby shows up!
Which brings me to my next update -- I can't believe that I only have 7.5 weeks left in this pregnancy. It has gone by so fast!!! We're almost done with the nursery, and I'll post pictures of that when it's done. Now I just have little things to tie up -- washing the clothes with Dreft, finding bottles, buying newborn diapers, deciding upon which double stroller to purchase, etc.
